It was Good Friday around 1991-1992 where I attended a reconciliation service. I went to offer my confession to the priest serving that day. As I was leaving the confessional, immediately I literally felt a cleansing go through my entire body. It was like a bucket of water was poured over me. At this moment, I felt so clean inside. I will never forget This. I realized that I had just experienced a manifestation of the sacrament of confession.
Then, I proceeded to the alter where I laid a rose at the foot of the cross that was situated there. I heard a voice inside me say "well done good and faithful servant." I have never understood why I heard this. Except to know that God allowed me by his grace to experience the manifestation of the sacrament of confession so that I may share it with others.
I knew at that moment that the sacraments are alive, and that the teachings of the Catholic church were correct. It is we who need to realize that the sacraments are alive the moment we receive them.
I have received healings through the sacrament of confession, and have been able overcome sin in my life by confessing weekly. We have to want God to remove the sin we commit against him. We have to desire it. We have to be serious about it. If we are still laughing at our failings we are not ready to overcome because deep down we enjoy the sin.
In Closing:
“ I will pour out clean water on you and wash away all your sins.” (Ezekiel 36:25)
